Joburg Ballet brings Celestial Bodies to Cape Town for five performances at the Baxter Theatre Centre from 12 to 15 November. The production follows the universe’s story through dance, live narration and an original piano score, pairing the company’s movement with vivid cinematic projections.
Physicist Dr Luca Pontiggia guides the audience through ideas of cosmic order, change and origin as composer Yasheen Modi performs live. Choreography by Mario Gaglione moves between classical and contemporary styles, turning scientific themes into a theatrical experience.
The two-act performance is open to all ages. It offers a welcoming way into ballet for curious first-timers as well as regular dance audiences.
